I have been accepted to download the Alter University student edition 2017. I was sent an email with the instructions. I have downloaded the file that links environment variable up to the host id tool box, I have identified the ethernet host id from the server, I have configured the  environment variable on my laptop but I cannot find the host id tool box to start the software down load, where have gone wrong?

I'm stuck.

Also in the environment variable drop down box there are two variable boxes with two create new button boxes, do I create for both or just the one. The instructions suggest only one.

Can anyone help?

hostid is the ethernet address (mac address) of one of your network adapters.

This info is needed for generating your license file, as it is made specifically for this machine.

you can also launch windows 'cmd' and run the ipconfig -all to get the physicall address/mac address.

physical address is a 12 digit value all hexadecimals (from 0-9-a-b...-f)

Once you have provided the mac address, you will receive a license file that will be ued by your HyperWorks.

The environment variable points to the location of your valid license file. usually we create the variable as a System Variable, as it would be available for all users in the machine (preferably pointing to some common folder).
