Moving license to a new computer

I'm enrolled in Educational Data Mining at Tallinn University, and while I successfully installed AI studio on my computer, I recently purchased a new laptop for school, and it won't let me activate AI Studio on the new device with the same license. I also cannot get a new student license. Is there a way to remove the license from the original machine and transfer it to the new one? 

 

To be clear, I have no intention of using the older computer, so it's okay if the program only works on one machine at a time.

    usually the student edition license is tied to the machine it is generated for, in most of the cases, tied to the network adapter. so in short, if that's the case, you would need a new license anyway. (unless you were able to somehow add the old network adapter into the new one)

     

    If it was already cloud/managed license, then it would  be simply to migrate, but probably this is not the case.

    Hi George,

    To activate the license on another computer, you must first deactivate it from your previous computer where it was previously activated.

    To deactivate your license from your previous computer, please follow these steps:

    1. Navigate to System (C:) > Program Files > Altair > 2023 > security > bin > win64 > gui.
    2. Locate and double-click on almutil_gui.exe to open the Altair License Utility.
    3. In the Altair License Utility, go to Tools > Deactivate License.
    4. Enter the activation key in the provided box and click on 'Deactivate.' (Refer to the image below)
    5. Once you have successfully deactivated the license on your computer, you can now activate the license on your other computer using the same activation key.

     

    NOTE: Please note that there are a limited number of chances to deactivate and reactivate a license. Therefore, it's advisable to avoid deactivating it several times.
