How to import AutoTire from MotionView into EDEM for coupling?
I am currently watching tutorial videos about EDEM. I want to import a model from MotionView into EDEM for analysis. While I can successfully import the car model, I am unable to select AutoTire; the options for the front and rear AutoTires are not visible. Could you please help me understand what might be causing this issue? Is there a specific format required for importing tires into EDEM? I have tried both .tir and .fxt files, but neither seems to work. Thank you for taking the time to read this. If you have any insights, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

Hi Stephen Cole,
I have the same file as this video. In AutoTire, I also selected the flexible tire (.fxt) as shown in the image (1). In the Flex Tire settings, everything is the same as in image (2), but I can't select the front and rear AutoTire like in image (3). This is the current issue I'm facing.(1)

Hi Zhijia,
Cani know the Motionview version are you using. As per you're comments i am understanding that you might be using 2023.1 or later version.
Th piture shown in 2 is from the motionview version 2023.0, i would request please 2023 and transfer the geometry for solving you can use any version later 2023.
Thanks,

Hi Zhijia,
When transferring or importing geometry to EDEM the file needs to be one of the following formats:I'm not familiar with AutoTire but from the documentation lit looks like an interaction between the tire and ground, EDEM doesn't support AutoTire directly but if you have a CAD model of the tire you can use EDEM to calculate the tire-ground interaction.
For example outlined in this webinar Stone Chipping Using EDEM and MotionSolve

Hi Stephen Cole,
I just watched the video you mentioned about "Stone Chipping Using EDEM and MotionSolve," but I can't import AutoTire into EDEM like in the video. At 45:59 in the video, I can't select Tire-Front and Tire-Rear, as shown in the image above. This is the issue I'm currently facing because I want to learn how to couple the entire vehicle model from MotionView with EDEM.

thank you for your replyHi Zhijia,
AutoTire isn't supported for EDEM, you would have to use either a rigid tire geometry or FlexTire as shown in the video to couple to EDEM.

Hi Prasad,
I am currently using version 2022.0 of the software, so do you think the issue is related to the version?

Hi Prasad,
Thank you for your response. Currently, using version 2023, I can import AutoTire into EDEM, but only the (.fxt) file can be imported. Is it normal that files like (.tir) cannot be imported into EDEM? This is the only issue I have left.
thank you for your response0
