Material Defination
Hello,
I am using MAT LAW 36 for analysis. I have tensile test stress strain curve data. I extracted True stress True strain and effective plastic strain. But I need to calculate Failure plastic strain Epmax, Tensile failure strain Epst1 and Epst2, Max. tensile failure strain Epsilon f. How can I calculate or extract these values from available data.

Hi,
These are the failure parameters of the material and the user should find these parameters experimentally.

Hello,
Thanks for reply.
Do you have any procedure or formula to find out these values?
If u have any document or case study related to this, Please share it.

Hi,
There are no formula or expressions to find these and as replied before these values are experimentally found.
There are many open web resources which provides the material parameters (eg: http://www.aerospacemetals.com/aluminum-distributor.html, http://www.matweb.com/ ...etc) where you can search for these failure parameters. Please note that only if you want to simulate the failure effect (element deletion when it reaches the user specified value) you need to provide these.
We have a tutorial where failure parameters are defined. You can access them at http://www.altairuniversity.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Bumper_Crash_final.pdf and http://www.altairuniversity.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/Example_11.pdf . Please go through these.
