Hi Members,

I have an important question from my master thesis perspective.

I have created a heat transfer simulation ( Purely Conduction and No Convection ) in optistrukt. (System is considered to be in Vaccum)

1. Is it possible to determine the overal heat transfer in the simulation for the component? I have gotten results for Heat Transfer in the system using SPCForce in the Outputrequest.. But it would be nice to find the overal heat transfer in the system as a result.
2. There is contact property in my model, I looked into some tutorial videos to add PCONTHT and KCHTC. It would be nice to know if it is necessary for the purely conduction simulation.

Thanks in advance.

    not sure about #1.

For #2 PCONTHT could be used in conjunction with contact to allow heat transfer in disconnected parts. So, if your mesh is not connected completely node-node, you could apply this contact based conduction, as effective as connected mesh. Some singularities may arise at the interface, but overall behavior should be just fine.
