EDEM Motion control
Good morning,
I was wondering if there was a way to implement more controlled motion of geometries into EDEM. For example add a sensor at a specific location, and when a particle passes through it, a specific time later a geometry starts moving. So the motion is triggered by a sensor rather than a specific timestep.
Best,
Matthias

Hi Matthias,
The capability that you're looking for is not capable by EDEM alone but using EDEM+ MotionSolve+ Activate is capable to do the requirement.
Thanks,

Thank you Prasad!
Are there any tutorials available on the combined use of these? What I am looking to do is move a conveyor horizontally, based on the position of a meta particle on a previous section, to allign the meta-particle in the center

Matthias

Tutorials are available with the help of Activate.
I don't think you can get the exact you're requirement as a tutorial rather you can understand the functionality from Activate and finetune the model to you're requirement

Hello Matthias,
Please have a look at this example:
Optimization of Bulk Handling Control System using Sensor Force Feedback with Altair EDEM, Inspire, and MotionSolve Co-simulation
There are example files available and a YouTube video that walks you through the entire workflow. I suspect that you will be able to modify the demonstrated workflow to achieve the result you are after. If not please let us know.
