How to get the stress at the considered resonance speed?

Dear Engineer.

I will first perform a modal analysis on a pair of gears with prestressing to obtain the modal frequencies. Then calculate the resonance velocity manually.
How can I get the stress distribution map of the gears at the resonance speed? Is this possible in motionview or Hyperworks? Or which module is recommended to analyze at resonance speed to see the stresses generated by resonance.

Also is it possible to create a contact relationship between a flexible body and a rigid body or a flexible body and a flexible body in motionview? I see that you can only create 3D rigid to rigid or 2D rigid to rigid, is that correct?

    Hi Weidong,

I can answer the 1st part of your question.

You can use Optistruct solver From Altair, to carry out modal analysis and find out natural frequencies. Then you can go for FRF analysis where you can define the natural freq obtained from Previous modal analysis in FREQ card. Then in Global output request you can ask for Stress as result output. Once FRF analysis is done you can review the result (.h3d file) in HMPOST/Hyperview to get the stress in that frequency.

I am sharing you the Modal and FRF tutorial link below to go through the set up.

Modal Analysis: OS-T: 1110 Modal Analysis Setup (altair.com)

FRF Analysis : OS-T: 1305 Modal Frequency Response Analysis of a Flat Plate (altair.com)

    Thanks
