How can i simulate 2D and 3D elements in the same model?

 My objective is to be able to simulate a hybrid solution with both metal and laminate bodies. It that even possible ? I got an error on the 2D surface elements (the base for the laminate) saying that there were no properties assigned, but they were assigned as PCOMPP. Any suggestions ? Thank you, Rafael Casqueira.

    Hello,

    There should be no issue simulating 2d/3d and metal/composite together in the same model.

    Your issue sounds more like the elements didn't have the property properly assigned.

    I would take a look at this video playlist for some basics on working with composites

    Eu já vi essa lista de reprodução. O meu problema é que quando vou para a simulação o erro é "ERROR 14: Missing property # 1 referenced by CQUAD4 # 100242". Any sugestion?

    It means your elements do not have the property assigned properly.

    Assign the correct property to the elements (directly) or to the component (indirectly).

    This should be mentioned and shown in the playlist I pointed you to.

    Sorry to boring you all the time. Now i can see the laminate in my pipe. First I created a surface (with the geometry of my pipe) and then i put my laminate (its easy, just 2D problem). Then I created the Pipe (Steel) inside of my Surface (3D component). Finally, i need to put the contacts to bring all together to have a  successful simulation. 

    When i run the simulation in my solver, i have this error:
    "CONTACT interface 1 has Secondary node 6264 that lies exactly on the Main surface with OPENGAP option. Impossible to define pushout direction.". 
    Do you have any suggestion to correct this error?

    Jason Craanen, if you were to do this exercise, how would you do it?

    I have a tube with a thickness and I want to evaluate its behaviour when I apply a force on one side and it remains fixed on the other (with constraints) and then I apply a composite to the outer surface of the tube (all around the tube) to see if the displacement of the tube in relation to this force is less with the composite compared to a tube without a composite and with the same force. 

     

    Here's a Hyperworks file (.hm) with my model so you can understand it better. 

    I'd really appreciate your attention because I'm evaluating the behaviour of composite structures and this is an important stage before moving on to other components. Also, this is for a competition.
