Computation the inductance of bar conductor by Simulation in Flux3D
Hello Altair community ,
I hope this message finds you well. I am currently working on simulating an aluminum bar with following dimensions: radius=5.642mm and length=200mm (see attachment 1). The simulation is conducted in Flux 3d, using magneto harmonic application, with a low voltage 2v ,50Hz (see attachment 2).
However, l am facing an issue with the inductance calculation regardless the method used the (energy, or impedance..),the calculated the inductance value consistently remains at 0.12uh, which is lower than the expected exact value is 0.14uh, despite mes efforts, I have been unable to optimize the simulation further.
I am reaching out to the Altair community in the hope that someone with expertise in electromagnetic simulation can provide assistance or validation of for this model. I am in a times sensitive situation and any guidance or validation would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you very mush for your time and consideration.
Sincerely
Sam

Hello Sam Adik,
Thanks for writing us, could you please open a support request and upload the model?
This will help us to check the model in detail and arrange a meeting in case.
Best regards,
Letizia

Hello Sam,
in your case as you have only a portion of bar in the FE domain without a closed loop of current, the FluxPEEC application will be more adapted to compute the inductance in this case.
To start this application select PEEC instead of 3D in the supervisor.
Find attached a text file containing command to build and solved the corresponding FluxPEEC project.
At the end you will obtained the impedance by clicking on the impedance probe in the data tree.
I hope this helps.
Best regards.
