Energy Absorption too low

Hi,

i'm still working on a composite crash attenuator and need your help again. The Simulation now runs fine but i have problems regarding the Energy Absorbtion of the Attenuator. From expierences of other Teams, a layup of 8-12 plies should be enough to absorb the energy in the crash. My Simulation doesn't absorb that much energy. I've tried various parameters in the Type 7 Interface between the Attenuator and the Wall but nothing really increases the absorbtion.

Do you have any recommendations? I've also thought about defining a self-contact in the attenuator. Do you think this would work?

I have attached the hm and mvw files

Regards

    Hi

It does not seem you have crossed plies on your laminate.

Is this the way the design is?

    Hi Rogerio,

in the Twill Material Card i have defined E1, E2 and the other paramaters used to define the material in both directions as the same, assuming it's a woven fabric. So theoretically there should be some "crossed plies". But i see that the solver could have troubles with that, so i will look into it. Do you have other ideas to define a woven fabric?

I've also tried the self contact now, it already gives better results.
