Crash sim: trying to create contacts, impossible to access components, impossible to create sets that can be selected in the interaction menu

Hello,

I am working on Hyperworks/Hypermesh (2022.3), Radioss, to run simulations of crash between an element meshed with shells, and sph elements.

When I try to define the interaction (the contact) between the non-moving elements and the sph, I create an interaction of Type7. In the menu of the interaction, I have to define the Main Entities and the Second Entities. To do so I have the usual yellow box, where it's written "SET", which means I have to select set elements. But I have two issues:

- I don't have any set defined, only components, so the window that opens when I click on the yellow box is empty. I tried all the differents types of Set I could create with my components inside, but it is still not what is expected for the interaction menu because the window where my sets should appear and let me select them is still empty

- I am following a tutorial made on Hypermesh 2019.1 (and still Radioss) and on the video there's on the left of the yellow box an arrow allowing to select something else than Set, and here specifically Component, which is what I would need. And so I don't understand why I don't have access to this arrow and so to this possibility of selecting components instead of sets.

Thank you,

Gabriel

    Hi Gabriel,

For the Type 7 interface, you have to define a set of surfaces as main and a set of nodes as secondary. For the secondary entity you can select nodes directly, but for surfaces, the default selection is by set. You'll need to create a set and change the card image from Surf to Surf_ext or Surf_all. By doing this you should be able to select the components.

    Hi Gabriel,

Additionnally to what Guilherme says, I want to highlight the following rules, specific to SPH:

    • You must put your SPH particules as secondary nodes by using a /GRNOD
      image
    • For the parameter Istf, you should use either Istf=0=1000 (default) or Istf=1. Istf=0 is the easiest to use and works most of the time.

    I hope it is helpful.

    Regards,

    Mathis.

Ok, I still don't understand why I can't have access to something else than just sets, but at least this works and just adds 2min of work, it should be ok haha.

    Thank you very much !
