Extract surface mesh(skin) of a 3D mesh component
Hi,
I have been trying to eliminate the element concentrations caused by HM 3D tetra remesh for a couple of months now and yet there is no robust solution available.
I wonder if it is possible to extract a surface mesh from the 3D mesh components - for instance the front surface in attached pic and then remesh the surface mesh in a 2D manner. Later, after the new surface mesh is created, apply the 3D remesh feature to the entire mesh component basing on the new surface mesh.
Would it be feasible in HM? How can I possibly extract the surface mesh and remesh it with certain 'feature angle' parameter to filter out the wanted small segments? and can I use 3D tetra remesh with pre-defined 2D surface mesh?
Answer to any of these questions would be most welcome.

Thanks Prakash,
Could you please also suggest me how to remesh the extracted surface mesh?

Firstly, you have to clean your geometry. When you extract 'faces' elements, all extracted elements are associated to your geometry. So you can remesh them as you want.

I see. Would it be possible to only extract mesh pattern out and 2D remesh it without constructing the geometry again? In 3D there is a 3D tetra remesh feature in HM, is there an equivalent one in 2D?

Sure, there is
in F12 panel you switch 'surfs' to 'elems' to remesh the 2d elements
