I don't have all the material properties to fill in the properties on the MAT9ORT or Mat9 card so i chose to do MAT8 car instead, should i just assume that the values in 1-2 direction is equal?
Thanks, Neel

Hi @neelc14
Use MaT9ORT only for solid elements. Looks like you changed material and properties for all elements.

Hi, I only changed the card image for aluminium honeycomb to mat9ort and nothing else but it seems to come up with that error still?
I have attached the file for reference.

Hi Neel,
For core you have PSHELL property which is not compatible with solid elements.
Change PSHELL to PSOLID property for core component.

Hi Prayesh,
Sorry but I already tried that and got an error message again after I ran optistruct analysis.

Neel,
Try this attached .fem file.
Some of the elements did not had a valid property. I updated the model.

Hi Prayesh could you send me the model file as well please if possible?

Hi Prayesh,
I imported the FEM file into Hyperworks and I still receive an error when I try to do Optistruct analysis.

Hi Neelc14,
Same file runs for me without any errors.
Can you try this .hm file?

Try this file. Saved from 14.0.
Also, update the Dof on one side of the model. Y is free which deforms the part to a larger extent.

What should I update it to? Because in a three point bending machine there is a roller support at one end meaning that the dof2 is free and cannot be constrained?

Neel,
The model is not constrained in the direction of load. Check this and update accordingly /emoticons/default_smile.png' srcset='/emoticons/smile@2x.png 2x' title=':)' width='20'>

Hi Prakash,
Sorry one more question i want to change the mesh element size after the model has been created from 3mm to 5mm how would I do that? Because when i do 2d>automesh and select the model and change the size from there an error comes up? What is the easiest way to do this?
Thanks, Neel0 -
Neel,
Can you post the error message, please?
To Remesh Shell elements, what you are following is correct. Also try to disconnect nodes between components before you remesh.

Incorrect SET definition.I receive this message. How would I be able to disconnect nodes between components?

Neel,
Looks like you have a set with elements, you remeshed those elements and the set has old element IDs.
You need to create another element set.
In order to detach elements, go to 2D page>> Detach is the option

The values I should obtain should be much smaller than this around 5mm or so.

Hi neelc14,
Check the constraints. I think you have an unconstrained model.
