Radioss Error # 4002

Can anyone help me out in:

ENGINE ERROR:

** ERROR : RADIOSS IMPLICIT STOPPED DUE TO SOLVER ERROR **

ISTOP=-4

NLGEOM subcase 4, engine finished

Why this error is coming? I already checked and defined NLPARM and NLPARMX for geometric non-linearity.

Please suggest some ideas to debug the same.

hello! I had the same error on a geom NL problem. I found this info on the troubleshooting section of the radioss implicit user guide. I hope it can help!

IMPLICIT STOPPED DUE TO SOLVER ERROR

The run terminates with the following RADIOSS message:

“**ERROR: RADIOSS IMPLICIT STOPPED DUE TO SOLVER ERROR**

ISTOP = -4”

Shown below are two suggested workarounds:

1.

Check which solve method used in /IMPL/SOLVER. Has the direct solver (BCS) been used in SMP run? If it is, then use another solve method.

2.

Another frequent case is when the model is relative large and the available free disk is not large enough. In that case, check the working space free volume (in ./ if TMPDIR is defined). If the issue came from memory management, we could also force RADIOSS to use out-of-core resolution (/IMPL/SBCS/OUTCORE).

If with above workarounds this error is still there, then please contact the RADIOSS support team at: radiosssupport@altair.com

If BCS or mix solver (using BCS) was used, BCS error IDs will print out on the screen of running shell, please report them to support team.

Hi,

I am running a topology optimization with a Geometric NL analysis (calling RADIOSS for implicit analysis). I have two load cases and targeting specific compliances for each load case while minimizing volume fraction. In my NLPARM Load Collector, I am using NEWT solver. When I run the optimization, Optistruct will run 2-3 outer loops before coming up with this error:

*** ERROR # 4002 ***

Running RADIOSS engine, 1 ERROR and 0 WARNINGs have been detected.

They are listed below.

ISTOP=-4

NLGEOM subcase 2, engine finished

Why does this error occur? I looked into the workarounds suggested above and 1) am not using a linear solver, and 2) do not appear to be running out of disk space. I am including the file I am running and would appreciate any tips.
