Using PSHEAR

Hi,

I tried to use PSHELL with an 2D automesh but it does not work. I receive this message every time I try to process (' CQUAD4 element number 1 references a missing property ID 1 or uses property of incorrect type for this element type. Error # 14 appeared total of 2635 times.'
I am sure that the property one exists and that my elements are assigned with it, but I don't know why it does not work! Also, when I change from PSHEAR to PSHELL it works, but I don't want to use the PSHELL because of the bigger complexity on the Analysis.

Thank you,
Jorge

    Hi Jorge

    try switching CQUAD4 to CSHEAR

    PSHEAR used only with CSHEAR

    This worked with the CQUAD4! But I still have some TRIA3 with the same problem and I can not set TRIA3 as CSHEAR. Do you have an idea how to fix this?

    Thank you for your answer!

    I've taken all TRIA3 out! But there still one problem!

    *** ERROR #  153 ***
     Exactly zero pivoting encountered during Numerical Factorization;
     the model may have rigid body mode.
      Solver error no. =       -514
            spc set id =          1
                 index =          1
     Possible reasons are:
     1) insufficiently constrained model,
     2) having rigid body mechanisms within the model,
     3) extremely ill-conditioned rigid element sets,
     4) extremely thin shells (as used for  'skinning') that have MID2/MID3,
     5) gap elements with extremely high stiffness (KA, especially KT or MU).
     Check the model and rerun the problem.
     (MECHCHECK may be used to find the rigid body modes.  To do so,
      change the input to be an eigenvalue analysis and add MECHCHECK.)
     (WARNING: results obtained with MECHCHECK cannot be used because
               the model is changed internally.)
     This error was detected in subroutine bcsmtxfct.

    I tried adding or changing the constraints, but it still not worked. I have also tried making the shell larger, but there was the same problem. Do you have an idea what is happening?

    Thank you for helping!

    Hi Jorge

    what are you simulate???

    if you use CSHEAR perhaps you will include a reinforcement because these elements cannot support membrane force

    if so then you connect the CSHEAR panel with reinforcement to constraint trans dofs

    or set the value F1 F2 in PSHEAR will take affect same as reinforcement rods
