Hi!

I would like to know what card image i should use for plane strain analysis in Radioss block.

I have checked  /ANALY card in the tutorials and such and could not find details on how to define the property.

For your information, the model is a simple square in tensile load from two sides.

hello! thank you for your swift reply.

i have read Example 8 - Hopkinson Bar as you advised, word for word, but i do not find anything mentioning the card image for property used.

also, the /ANALY inside the example is for axisymmetry, not plane strain.

Sorry to take your time, but can you advise me specifically which card image is appropriate?

    Hi Teng,

I don't see any restrictions when using /ANALY= 2 (plane strain) for material or properties.

So, If you have shell elements, use a proeprty which is compatible with 2D elements (like PROP/SHELL)

    HI Prakash

Could you please tell me wich contact interface is compatible with 2D plane strain? As far as I know, type 7 is not compatible with 2D plane strain

    Hi Pohan,

I think only /INTER/TYPE5 contact is supported for plane strain analysis.

    Hi George,

I use /INTER/TYPE5 for my plane strain model but the contact is not worked. Could you please help me check the model file that I send you in Dropbox.

    Hi Pohan,

The updated files has been sent to you.

Meanwhile, also recommend you to upgrade to HyperWorks 2017 version, which you can download from http://www.altairuniversity.com/free-hyperworks-2017-student-edition/

    Hi George

    I received your model files.

Could you please tell me more about the step 3

3). For 2d contact you need to define /SURF/SEG using two nodes. However, neither HyperMesh nor HyperCrash support this. The work around is to create a /LINE/SEG using the contactsurfs panel. Then use contact surface to define your contact interface. Export your model and manually change the /LINE/SEG to /SURF/SEG using a text editor

I do not understand how to 'create a /LINE/SEG using the contactsurfs panel. Then use contact surface to define your contact interface. Export your model and manually change the /LINE/SEG to /SURF/SEG using a text editor'

    Hello George.

I have an other problem with my plane strain model. The error is

ZERO OR NEGATIVE VOLUME FOR 2D ELEMENT ERROR ID 228

Does it because of the material?
