Selection of elements in a closed geometry

Dear all,

I have a geometry which is closed with some surfaces. I also have some volume meshes, some of which are superposed with the closed geometry (not on the geometry, but just superposed in the space). I want to select these superposed volume meshes and put them into a set. Is there some one who knows how could I realize this kind of funciton in HM ? Thanks very much.

    Hello

i think there is no such function available in hm

but you can mesh the closed surfaces (roughly) then find intersection

in intersection/penetration browser, select to display components that have intersection with the closed surfaces component

    then conduct your set creation

Thanks very much for your reply. Indeed, with intersection/penetration function, I can select the element inside the geometry. But there still is a problem. Some elements outside the geometry will be selected as well, for they have some common nodes with the elements inside the geometry. These common nodes are just on the surface of the geometry. Is there a method that can let me only select the elements inside but not the elements outside ?

    Hello

there is a such method, but just in some particular cases

suppose you selected both inside and some outside elems and you want to deselect outside elems

find free edges of selected elems and find elems attached to the free edges, mask them then you can select inside elems
