file type for simulation
hellow , i have a question;
I have to make a fluid dynamics simulation to a formula sae car, but for the machine files I have a file solidworks 'assembly'.
if I create a file .iges this is very heavy because I have a lot of machine components, if i create a file .stl this export only lines and create complex surface in hypermesh is not simple.
How can I fix the problem ?
I have to change the file type?
can i use some program that allows me to make my geometry suited to a simulation ?
Thanks /emoticons/default_biggrin.png' srcset='/emoticons/biggrin@2x.png 2x' title=':D' width='20'>

Try to use STEP format (.stp, .step).

I tried with the format .step but wneh i create the 2D mesh He says to me : 'internal mesh error, try modifying element densities '
how can I solve this problem ???
thanks

Hi,
When you are importing .stp file, take care of units (scale factor in import options).

Hi,
i Just Took care about this , But the problem persists.
do you have another idea to risolve this problem ???

I have solved the problem , but now the problem is to understand how to eliminate the free edge and the element duplicates.
if i go to autocleanup HM tells me :'Element size is too big for this model'.
thanks for the great availability.

Hi,
Edit parameters/Criteria in AutoCleanup panel and give the actual mesh size.

sorry for the inconvenience. can anyone help me out on how to make the mesh of this file ?
And tell me how did you resolve the errors ?
I do fluid dynamics simulation.
Thanks

I see you have multiple parts which one can do 3d or 2d mesh.Could you let us know in which part you are finding difficulty to mesh.
Free edges is easy to remove via edges command with some tolerance.
