Adaptive meshing

Where did you find adaptive meshing in HM/Radioss? It would be interesting to use it.

I found AD-mesh-set in property and Ad-global-Mesh in control card; You should 'play' with that but it's very difficult to use them well

Hi Salvinho,
Did you try criteria angle and thickness error as a combination?

Hi Prakash,
I tried, but mesh don't change during simulation; maybe I'm making a mistake.

What type of analysis you are running & what type of elements you have in your model?

I think not all element formulations are supported. Have you taken care of this during adding adaptive meshing?

I'm running an explicit simulation, specifically the deformation of the punch on a metal sheet; this last has shell elements, while the punch is a rigid body.

How to perform adaptive meshing in radioss ?And what are the things we need to take care while performing adaptive meshing ?

Hi,
Adaptive mesh is employed in cases where the structure undergoes extreme deformation which results in mesh distortion and eventually terminates the job. Metal forming simulations, buckling and collapse are some application where the adaptive mesh is usually taken into account. In RADIOSS adaptive mesh is available for shell elements ( Tria and Quad).
I have attached the keyword documents which is used to define the Adaptive Mesh in RADIOSS.
