Temperature field on a 3D mesh

Hello,

I am actually working on a simulation of a piston.

Therefore I applied the mechanical loads but I also want to include the thermal stresses in a seperate loadstep .

Is there an easy way to import a table with temperatures?

I found a solution that I split the piston into several parts in relation to the heigth. And the themperature on the nodes are referred to a formula T0 +z*Delta_T for each part of the piston

But this is very inaccurate and needs a lot of time to apply the temperature field.

Many thanks in advance

    Hi,

I think you need to carry a coupled thermal structural analysis.

Please refer to OptiStruct help for more information about Coupled Thermal Structural Analysis and Optimization

You can use the temperatures panel to add temperature loads from a file

HyperWorks Desktop Applications > HyperMesh > User's Guide > HyperMesh Panels > HyperMesh Panels Listed Alphabetically:

    Temperatures Panel

Linear interpolation: Use this option this to interpolate pressures from a saved file or existing loads.

Note: Linear interpolation only works with shell elements.
