How to solve rigid wall penetration problem of a drop simulation?

Hi all,

/RWALL was used for edge drop simulation. However, the penetration was found. The edge had a small initial distance to the rigid wall and a distance was used to define the slave nodes.

How to solve the penetration?

    Hi Roy,

Ensure slave nodes are selected. If issue persist please share the model and h3d file.

    Hi George,

The slave nodes have been selected. The attachment is the result animation. Any keywords or parameters can be used to solve this penetration problem?

    Thank you

    Hi,

Is the penetration increasing or it detects after some time or there is no reaction at all. You can check normal of rwall also

    Hi Roy,

As Gopal mentioned check the rigid wall normal and ensure it is in positive Y direction.

Please share the model file for reviewing it.

    Hi gopal_rathore,

How to check the normal of the rigid wall? The following figures show the definition of the rigid wall contact and rigid wall contact force by reading T01 file. I think the rigid wall contact had been defined correct, because the contact force was not zero. I don't know if there any parameter controls the penetration of rigid wall.

By the way, the nodes of the box outside belong to shell elements.

    Hi George,

I'm sorry I cannot share the model file because of some reason.

I have uploaded the rigid wall definition method, rigid wall review and rigid wall force curve. What's more, I also have uploaded my rigid wall keyword card set up in the first floor.

From this clue, do you find something wrong?

    Thank you

    Roy

    Hi Roy,

The defined rigid wall seems to be fine.

Can you slightly increase the gap between rigid wall and the component and try running the analysis.

    Hi George,

The initial gap between the rigid wall and the nearest slave nodes was 4mm. I cannot find the method to solve this penetration problem. Is there any parameter to control the rigid wall penalty stiffness?

    Best Wishes

    Hi Roy,

Is the base component which penetrate the /RWALL a rigid body?. If so, keep Ikrem=1 and try running.

    Hi George,

The component which penetrate the rigid wall is a elastic body. From the figure in the first floor, we can see the deformation.

I have uploaded a simple edge drop example. From this example, we can also see some penetration. Is there anything wrong? And how to solve this penetration?

    Thank you

    Hi Roy,

Everything seems fine in this model and i think this is only a visualization issue.
