Hello,

I am relatively new to RADIOS & don't have proper material data (stress strain curves) . Just to understand before going ahead with model setup in RADIOS, i wanted to know if it is also possible to do a snap through and snap back simulation with quasi static solver ? i believe it will be an implicit analysis...right ?

Incase if its possible, pls guide me through a tutorial or some sample model....

Here i attach a picture of my mesh. The hooks (yellow part) and the opening (pink part) are modelled with 3-d elements and the rest of model with 2-d elements.

Thanks in advance!

Regards,

Palash

    Hi Palash,

You can do this snap fit analysis in RADIOSS solver. Although implicit methods are able to solve these  but usually results in serious convergence difficulties and this can be easily done with explicit method. Moreover explicit methods can easily handle excessively high levels of deformation. So I recommend you to try with the explicit methods.

You can use the imposed loading condition to simulate this.

We are creating a workshop/tutorial in Snap Fit analysis which will be open to public. And so I can share you a sample snap fit model file soon for your reference.

    Hey George,

Thanks a lot for your answer :)/emoticons/default_smile.png' srcset='/emoticons/smile@2x.png 2x' title=':)' width='20' />  when do you think would you be able to share the tutorial latest ? actually i am stuck in middle of this project :/

    thanks again for your answer.

    Hi Palash,

Here you go, the snap fit sample model file is attached along.

RADIOSS is the market leading structural analysis solver for highly non-linear problems under dynamic loadings and it is used across all industries worldwide to improve the crashworthiness, safety, and manufacturability of structural designs.

Since you are a beginner in RADIOSS, you can go through our RADIOSS learning webinar series at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CxM52wP3_ew&list=PLQ7KUGFuVz4u5y3SvIEIU07427-gATaG6

We have many tutorials/videos/case studies on RADIOSS available at our Learning Library which can be accessed at https://altairuniversity.com/learning-library/?type=learninglibraryitem&search=&filter_resource_type=&filter_discipline=Nonlinear+Dynamic+(explicit)+%2F+Crash&filter_language=&filter_source=

You can download our free RADIOSS ebook from Introduction to Explicit Analysis using RADIOSS

PS: Since you are stuck up with a snap fit project, this model was shared. Please download the model as early.

This model will be deleted from here soon as we are releasing a workshop on snap fit analysis and so we don't want to share the model here.

    Hello George,

Thanks a lot for sharing the model. I am going to try applying the setup in my geometry as well. Can i ask you if this workshop is going to be a Webinar one or a classroom one ? If its a classroom workshop, the pls letme know the details. i would be happy to join :)/emoticons/default_smile.png' srcset='/emoticons/smile@2x.png 2x' title=':)' width='20' />

    Thanks and regards,

    Hi Palash,

Try the same set up as in the model shared. If you end up with any issues please let us know, we are happy to help.

We will release this as a webinar.
