Convert Material Properties

Hey,

for my model i want to use the material model law 40 (Generalized Maxwell-Kelvin). For some tests and also to test some hypotheses I want to use the mechanical properties from the attached papers (1. Paper with the mechanical properties [Table 2], 2. sup-file for explaining the models).

My question is is it possible to convert these properties to use law 40? (Because HyperCrash is usins G instead of E and eta instead of tau) Can I use this equation 2*G*(1 + nu) = E to convert E to G (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shear_modulus#cite_note-7 [Chapter: Explanation]) and how is it possible to estimate K from this, for law 40?

The same question for the Mooney-Rivlin material constants. Is it possible to convert it?

Or is it better to build my own curve for my mechanical properties and put it into the model?

Thank you for your help.

Best,

Max

    Hi Max,

If you check the Help Menu and theory manual the equation for computing shear modulus is provided. My suggestions is to build new material properties rather than converting from E to G.

You can also go through Example 52 - Creep and Stress Relaxation from the Help Menu where Material Law 40 is used.
