I am doing a component level analysis where I don't have knuckle assembly. I just have knuckle. I have doubts regarding SPC. Should I apply spc on caliper mounts on knuckle? Also  there are four bolt connecting knuckle with the dust cover. Should I constrain those or just constrain the suspension mounts?

Hi Alekh,

 

I presume you don't have the caliper mount component and the Knuckle would sit on this caliber.

 

if yes, you can constrain the nodes of the Kunckle which sits on the mounts using SPCs

 

The better way to model the bolts in the assembly is to tighten them by pretensioning analysis.

 

You can apply bolt pretension in OptiStruct and make the cover come into contact. Else, you can just define a FREEZE type of contact between the cover and bolt head
