Normally the roof is modelled with 2D mesh. Please use fully integrated shell elements for the model.

For a bus roof structure which generally has thickness in the range of 2-2.6 mm and if we go for tet mesh for it, the lower element size will also cause reduced element time step but when you model it with shell elements, the minimum element size can be taken as 4 to 5 mm. This gives more time step when compared to the tet mesh. This being one of the reasons, shell mesh is used for complete bus structure.
