ERROR ID 866
Hi,
I've been learning to use HyperMesh and Radioss in the last month and i'm actually trying to analyse a bike helmet impact but everytime i run the Radioss starter file i get the same error:
ERROR ID 866 (i've join a picture)
Thanks for your help identifying this error!

Hi Oliver,
Please sent the complete starter out (_0000.out) file.

There you go George!
I'm sorry, i'm still new with this program so i hope this error is not a beginner one!
It says that it's an error on material data law, im using de LAW70 but maybe it's not the one that i need. Maybe can you help me, i want to test a bike helmet and i don't know which law reflect the best the properties of polystyrene.
Sincerly,

Hi Oliver,
You need to define the loading stress-strain curve for this material law. Please go through the Help Menu for /MAT/LAW70 where an example material card is shown.
The material law 70 is used yo model visco-elastic foam like seat foam which do not have plastic deformation. To model crushable foam (with permanent deformation), user should use Material Law 33 or honeycomb material (law 28 or law 68).
Please go through the tutorial available at http://www.altairuniversity.com/learning-library/modeling-and-analysis-of-honeycomb-impact-attenuator/ which is the 'Modeling and Analysis of Honeycomb Impact Attenuator'.

Hi George,
I actually managed to run a simulation, but the problem i have right now is that the helmet goes through the rigidwall without any contact. I've created the rigidwall with a node i placed in front of the helmet at a small distance. I was wondering if i had to create a contact (TYPE2) between the helmet and the wall so it simulates the impact. If so, should i select all the nodes front the helmet as slave nodes and the one from the wall as a master node?
Thanks for your help
Olivier

Hi Olivier,
There is no need to define an interface between the rigid wall and the component. But make sure that the rigid wall normal is towards the component and the slave nodes are also defined. The slave nodes to a rigid wall can be defined as a group of nodes and/or as nodes initially at a distance less than the distance (Dsearch) from the rigid wall.

Hi George,
I changed the direction of the normal toward the helmet but now i get this error (see the picture)
I sent you my files if you want to check it out. I use LAW33 for the foam and P14_Solid. I meshed my helmet with tetramesh and solid elements. I don't know if i have to activate Ismstr, Icpre, Itetra, i just read that with tetrahedron elements i should let the ISolid on OFF so thats what i did.
I was wondering if it was maybe the fact that i don't use a failure property that cause this kinda error...
Your help will be more than appreciated...my projet is due soon and i hope i can make it work before!
Sincerly, (should i create another ticket in the forum for this question?)

Hi Olivier,
I think for the same query you have created another topic in the forum. We will continue to discuss the same over there.
