I am modelling a bearing and doing its analysis in optistruct. However, I am having a problem in imposing angular velocity onto the inner race. I wanted to know is it possible to use the impvelb card for providing angular velocity to the inner race?

If yes, what is the exact procedure to do so and what are the values of BID, CID, SID that have to be set?

    Hi @RITVIK

IMPVELB is valid only for multi-body subcases,

What type of analysis are you doing?

You can apply rotational velocity/acceleration using RFORCE card.

    Thnx for your input.

I am doing a non linear quasi-static analysis of the ball bearing.

Sir, someone suggested to me that i can use rbe3 elements to connect a central node to the inner face nodes of the inner race. is this a valid way to impose angular velocity on the inner race?

Also sir how can i use the RFORCE card? and does using the card just impose the centrifugal forces on the nodes of the inner race or does it impose angular velocity onto the nodes as well?

it's srange to solve static analysis with velocity=)

thank your for your reply. I just searched regarding this. Probably you are right. Since i am new to this and do not know much can u please tell how can i simulate the bearing operation in the time period between the start and when it achieves the steady state of 125.6 rad/s.

    Hi,

You can use transient analysis and apply velocity using SPCD.

There are few other posts in this forum regarding bearing analysis and other transient analysis. Please check the same for more information.

    Sir,

another thing that i wanted to ask is that what kind of analysis should we use if we want to analyze the bearing running at steady state of 1200 rpm and there is a constant radial load on it?

    HI,

You can either do an implicit analysis or non-linear transient analysis.
