Mesh Refinement for CMA

I am running Characteristic Modes Analysis (CMA) and I get notice:

NOTICE 37561: Characteristic mode analysis may require a finer mesh compared to standard full-wave solution techniques, to accurately capture higher order mode behavior

So I am trying to refine the mesh but being a newbie to FEKO I am uncertain how to.

Any guidance or help is appreciated, I will also attach the .cfx file

(NOTE: I am using Student Version)

Have a look at the meshing done for the aperture coupled patch antenna (Example A.10) in the Altair_Feko_Example_Guide.pdf in the help folder of your Feko installation. There it is shown how to set local finer meshing.

You also just set a custom mesh with a value that gives e.g. 50% more mesh elements than what you have at the start.

It is not possible to predict what mesh size would be adequate for CMA. It strongly depends on the modes, which are not known until after the MoM matrix is solved. It is a bit of a trial and error process.

Note that sometimes double precision is also required. This is set on the Solve/Run tab -> Solver Settings -> General.

Try the above settings. A finer mesh and double precision will of course require more memory and longer runtime to solve.
