Dear Altair Team,

I would like to ask if its possible to use the same license which I bought for my iMac for my external Win10 which is running through the bootcamp.

Finally I decided to use nvidia graphic card with my iMac through the thunderbolt 3 eGPU. But it must be installed under win10.

I tried to use the same license which I using under macOS Mojave but it doesnt work.

I checked the ethernet host ID under win and macOS and its the same (but license doesnt work).

How I should continue in this issue?

Do I need to deactivate my current license which was for macOS and change it to WIN10?

Best regards,

Jana.

What type of license do you buy? Nodelock or Floating license?

If Nodelock, no, you can't. Because the license est delivred for your Mac.

If Floating, no problem. You can use your license from any PC in your network.

Hi thanks for fast reply. To be honest , I dont know what type of license I have because if I check historical emails when I bought it, there is nothing about Nodelock or Floating. (maybe Nodelock I dont know)

I bought it for thea render mac version but I wants (need) to switch to windows because of nvidia. To be honest, I dont want to buy another license for win becuase the PC is the same. Just operating system is different. License should be joined with host ID not with operating system , am I right?

I saw that is possible to migrate the license from one pc to different if the previous computer was lost or damaged. But, this is not my situatuion. I have the same computer and I am the same owner. I just need to use it for Thea Render win version.

Please check attached pictures. There is activated license under macOS Mojave, and Host ID for WIN 38F9D31324C6 , which is the same like host ID from macOS terminal.

On your last picture you have two options:

    • License File (.dat) ==> Nodelock License
    • Network License - Server port and Address ==> FLoating (or Network) License

I think you have Nodelock license. If you do not change the hardware, maybe the current license works also with another OS. To try!

HW is the same.. I mean imac. but my windows is installed on external drive and I dont know if this external drive will affect the license.

As I understood it right, for license is important host ID. eth. which is the same (under win or macOS). II tried that DAT file in windows but it doesnt work.
