Laminate optimization: Symmetric or total

Hello,

I want to make an optimization of a carbon fiber monocoque. I have the model ready with a total laminate implemented.

However, tutorials about optimization have a symmetric laminate. It is possible to perform the optimization with a total laminate?

Thank you

    Yes it is.

Usually tou start with SMEAR option enable as it takes the 'average' laminate behavior, independent on the stacking sequence.

But in general sym and balances laminates are used to avoid undesired couplings.
