Pressure on arc segment of a surface

Hello,

I'm struggling to apply a pressure on an surface on a wheel. I want to apply the pressure on an arc segment of the wheel (marked in yellow) and not on the whole circumference:

In Hypermesh I only can select the whole surface.

My idea is to create planes with an angle of +-20° to the XY-plane and create curves on the rim using these planes. The pressure should be applied to the surface which is limited by the curves. The problem is that I don't know how I can create the mesh considering the curves on the surface and how to select this surface when applying the pressure.

I used the IGES-format for transfering the part from NX to Hypermesh, if this is relevant.

Does anybody have a recommendation for this? Or do you have a different approach to solve my problem?

I'm not really experienced with Hypermesh, so I would be really glad if anybody can help me.

Best regards,

Lukas

If you still have the geometry associated with your mesh, then you could select 'elems >> by geoms'

Make sure you have changed selection from 'faces' to 'elems'.

I think this could help you.

Thanks for your reply! Unfortunately, this does not solve the problem. When I try this, the elements are not selected. Does anybody else have an idea for solving this? Or do you have a different idea?

I found a solution for the problem, even tough it is not very nice.

I created lines on the surface of my wheel in NX. These lines are the borders of the surface I want to apply the pressure on. In Hypermesh I used the tool "Split by lines" to split the surfaces. After that the mesh is created according to the borders and I can select the elements manually.

As I said, it is probably not the best solution, but it works.
