I am working on a component where I have to constrain one end of the model only in Rotational. .  and those constraints should be locally defined(  planar constrain). Pls find the attached image.

The black highlighted face area has to get constrained to that local plane only in rotational.

pls guide in this regard,

Thanks,

Nagaraj

    Hi Nagaraj

You can refer this attached video for creating a local system to your component.

Once you assign the local system to your component then you can create constrains by clicking on to  Analysis > constrains

Select the nodes along the required area and tick on dof4, dof5, dof6 which constrains the degree of freedom only in Rotational axis.

    Hope it is clear..

    Thank you Pranav,

I have done the same. And I have assigned the nodes of the face to the local system also.

But I am not happy with the modal displacements its showing.

    Hence the query.

    Thanks,

    Nagaraj

    Hi Nagaraj

Can you please share your model file.I will check and try

Also what type of Analysis are you doing?

    Hi Pranav,

Sorry at this moment I cant. As its against the policies.

I am just trying to do modal analysis constraining this end in 4,5,6 dof.(i just constrained the nodes at end face)

    Thanks,

    Nagaraj

    Hi,

because the black highlighted face is not parallel to XY plane, I think constraints RX RY RZ are wrong

you have to create a reference system that has xy plane parallel to the face, and then set this system as displacement system for constrained nodes

    panel analysis>system will help this

    HI tinh,

I exactly did wat you have mentioned. Created a local system and assigned the end face nodes to that local system. instead of XY, as you commented, I ahve made XZ as parallel to the face.

    Thanks,

    Nagaraj

    Hi Nagaraj,

From systems panel, assign loads to the system and check the results, please.

Can we assign spc to a system? Is this new in current version?

Create systems and assign nodes to the local system. Constraining the nodes will constrain the nodes in the local system.  This should work.

But the user is not really happy with the results...:huh:/emoticons/default_huh.png' title=''> So, giving it a try...

you simulate your body by solid elements, but solid elements have only translation DOFs.

and your body moved like a rigid body.

what type analysis did you do?

    explain, pls, your simulate case.

    Just modal analysis

    Hi Nagaraj,

Is there a reason for looking at displacement from a modal analysis?

I am asking because mode is a shape and not deformation.
