Nodes/elements limitation with Education Version

I don't have Student Edition here, so I can't tell you about this.

Limitations

• The HyperWorks 2017 Student Edition may NOT be used for commercial purpose
• The Student Edition is based on the integrated HyperWorks Desktop Framework

Model size limitations

• Structural models (RADIOSS; OptiStruct): 100,000 nodes
• CFD models (AcuSolve): 500,000 nodes
• Multi Body models (MotionSolve): 200 bodies

Supported CAD formats

• Import: IGES, SolidWorks and STEP
• Export: IGES, STEP

Supported FEM formats

• Import / export: RADIOSS, OptiStruct, and AcuSolve
• Solvers can not be started from a command line (only from within the respective panel in the Graphical User Interface)

Solvers

• RADIOSS runs are restricted to 4 cores (-nt4)

Post-Processing (HyperView)

• Reads h3d files only with maximum allowable model size of 100.000 nodes
• Only 1 page with up to 16 windows may be created

Others:

• The Student Edition can only be requested through the Altair Online Store (no DVD medium is available)
• Platforms: Windows 7/8.1 (x86_64)/10
• HyperWorks license is valid for 12 months
• Model Files for Student Edition users – accompaniment to the tutorials in help
• The Student Edition is not available for banned countries: CUBA, SYRIA, IRAN, NORTH KOREA and SUDAN or for students who are banned for other reasons and are included on US Government lists of banned parties.
• ESAComp and Multiscale Designer require students to provide Altair with their nationality and completion of an export compliance form before they may obtain these software products.

Does, anybody know if there is any limitation on number of elements/nodes creation and (then) export through HyperWorks 2017 Student Edition- HyperMesh programme?

 

In other words, can I create mesh for a geometry with more than 500,000 nodes (for CFD model) and then able export it for another (say Ansys Fluent) solver through the Students versions HyperMesh?

Dear All,

I have seen these limitations already on the official website.

However, I have a tricky query.

Let me elaborate.

I need to use Ansys Fluent (because our school has the license). But I hate their Pre-processing. I know how powerful is HyperMesh with meshing (but our school does not have the license).

Hence, my intention is to use HyperMesh (Student Version) for meshing of my models (LARGE models with very very high element number). And then export the mesh finally to Ansys Fluent.

So, my question is, can I use the Student version to mesh and export large models (without any limitation on number of elements)? I will not be solving the large models any HypperWorks solver.

I don't know how Ansys Fluent organize the data. But it you can make several different input files, maybe you can assembly & solve within Fluent?

With my FEM SAMCEF solver, it's so simple. I can build as many as different input meshing files and make assembly model before solving.

If student version limits nodes & elems,

you can make a portion of model up to that limit, then export it, then delete it (but keep its interfaces), then continue building next portions. Is this OK?/emoticons/default_rolleyes.gif' title=':rolleyes:' />
