Technical difference between thickness direction gasket pressure distribution and contact pressure distribution on gasket

I have done FEA analysis of Cylinder Head Gasket of 4 Cylinder Inline engine using Hypermesh and Optistruct solver.

In hyperview, while checking for gasket analysis I am interested in gasket pressure distrbution and contact pressure on gasket (called as 'Contact Traction Normal 'for Hypermesh Version 13 onwards).

I have attached snapshot of those two options available in Hyperview.

Will you please tell what is difference between gasket pressure distribution and contact pressure on gasket (called as 'Contact Traction Normal ') in technical language so that I can understand ? Please tell what it means in software language too..i.e. direction of pressure ?

The thickness of gasket should be enough to flow or yield the gasket material. The gasket thickness plays a vital role in deciding the gasket stiffness & gasket closure curve is function of gasket thickness.

It is important to study the pressure and closure distance in thickness direction of a gasket element to estimate the leakage and hence the output variables as Gasket Thickness- direction pressure.

While, Contact traction/pressure is the Generalized pressure caused by the interaction of contact bodies in normal and tangential directions and is not specific to gaskets
