view orientations in thick shell elements in lsdyna interface
Hi,
I am using Hyperworks with ls-dyna interface.
Hyperworks sussessfully able to import the .k file with *part and *element_tshell_composite .
I am not able to view the orientations using 'Ply layer and direction'.
Please let me know the other viewing methods to view the thickshell orientation definitions available in Hyperworks.

Hi, In LS-dyna interface, composite defined using thick shells look like this. Probably I should be using Realize instead of Absorb, if there is a single click process.
Should I first export my dyna model into Optistruct and if the OS model is exported good, I should apply Realize step to view plies. Should this be the procedure to follow?

Hello,
In order to visualize your model as plies, its needs to be modeled using a ply based modeling schema. I don't believe that is how ls-dyna behaves, I believe they use zone based. So you can absorb to ply based for visualization.
I would take some time to look at this youtube series on composite modeling in hypermesh
thanks
