Boolean Solids

I want to optimze a rim disk with Optistruct and need therefore a model which consists several parts:
the Design-, NondesignSpace and two other parts of the rim.
Now I want to connect the parts on a surf, as if they all are from one part because the force will be tranferred by contact pressure(sorry for my english).
I used the function 'Boolean A-B,B(cut A with B)'. Is that the right way to do it? Does ist matter if I bolean the solids before or after meshing? Because the analysis with Optistruct isn't starting for 20minutes and when the elements of the mesh are bigger than 2mm there is an error: 'Element Quality Check Failed - error limits violation'.

    Hi,
    1) Do you want to combine two solids? {A-B,B} will remove B from A and retains B and creates a surface separating both A and B.{A+B} will combine two solids into a single solid.

    2) it is recommended to perfrom all geometry related operations before meshing. Performing Boolean (combining, cut, etc..) may result in deletion of mesh or possible intersection of elements from different components.

3)are you using a Student edition HW? can you please paste the .out file here in this post, to know more about the error?

    1) I want the two solids to behave as if they were stiff connected on a common surf, cause they are connected with screws there. Rigids in the holes would deliver the wrong result.
I tried the {A+B}Options but there is only one component in the end. I need several components for the design variable in the end.

    2) okay thanks

    3) Yes and I will upload my next error-file

yes, {A-B,B} will work where A and B share a common surface and still different components.
