Importing Solidworks Parts Into Inspire.

I am trying to trial the software and have a number of models I want to look at testing the software on.

My only problem is I cannot seem to import SolidWorks parts into Inspire, nor export in a format that works either...

Is there something I am doing wrong.

Inspire:

OPEN -> PART.SLDPRT.

OPEN -> PART.EVO

SolidWorks:

SAVE AS 'EVOLVE MODEL.EVO'

Thanks in hope

James

To go from SolidWorks to Inspire your best option would be .X_T.

The .evo file format is for Evolve.

Let us know if you are still having trouble opening the files in Inspire.

    Thanks,

    Hello,

What is the version of SolidWorks that generated the files you are trying to import in Inspire?

    Thanks,

    Matthieu

I'm struggling with this issue as well.

I have v9.5 Inspire, and want to open a SW assy with the design region, and support and force regions, as separate parts.

No matter if I open, or import, the assembly, or any single .sldprt file, absolutely nothing appears on screen. The item does appear on the left menu, but selecting it does nothing.

Opening a step file of the same parts sort of works, but it shouldn't be necessary.

    Any idea what's going wrong?

Is it an issue with SW 2014 compatibility?

    Very frustrating.

    Hello,

SW2014 is not yet supported for import in Inspire. Please save as Parasolid from SolidWorks and import the Parasolid file inside Inspire.

    Thanks,

    Matthieu

    Thank you for your feedback.

    Any timeline for this?

Will this come as some sort of patch, or with the next release, ie, v9.6?

    Thanks again,

    Stephen

This will be available later this year most likely in a major release.

Thanks again, but I have just realized that my version is in fact 2013, or more specifically 2013-2014 education edition.

Any idea why I can not use any .SLDPRT or .SLDASM files?

It seems to open, and the name appears on the left column, but nothing is in the main window.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Hello,

Unfortunately the file format is different when saved from the educational version of SolidWorks. Inspire do not support that format at the moment.

The workaround is to go through the Parasolid route.

    Thanks,

    Matthieu

Thank you again Matthieu. That sounds reasonable.

    Keep up the good work.
