How to create a Butterfly plot using PROC SGPLOT and PROC SGRENDER

Altair Analytics Workbench 4.4.5

Now that the implementations of PROC SGPLOT, PROC TEMPLATE and PROC SGRENDER permit SAS programs containing ODS Graphics to be run, please can you help me to generate similar outputs to SAS software for the attached program.

I have attached the following files:

  • Common data set:
    • Butterfly plot data.jpg
  • From SAS:
    • butterfly_plot2(EG).txt -- SAS program
    • Butterfly plot from SGPLOT(EG).jpg -- output from PROC SGPLOT
    • Butterfly plot from GTL(EG).jpg -- output from PROC SGRENDER
  • From WPS:
    • butterfly_plot2(WPS).txt -- SAS program adapted to run in WPS
    • Butterfly plot from SGPLOT(WPS).jpg -- output from PROC SGPLOT
    • Butterfly plot from GTL(WPS).jpg -- output from PROC SGRENDER

I realise that some functionality is not available in v4.4.5, so those features have been commented out in the program for WPS. I'm also aware that PROC SGRENDER is experimental in this WPS version too. However, I would like to publish a version of this program for WPS on my blog site that creates comparable graphs.

Thanks in advance............Phil

    Hi Phil,

Thanks for this interesting suggestion. I'll chat to some of my colleagues in Altair and get back to you about it.

    Best Regards,
    Nico

    Hi Nico,

There is an article explaining the SAS version of the program on my blog site in issue 70 of VIEWS News. This is accessible to registered and logged-in blog members at blog.hollandnumerics.org.uk. Please feel free to register, as there are more SAS programs described in the preceding 69 issues available for download too!

    Thanks..............Phil

    Hi Nico,

I've now installed Altair Analytics Workbench 4.4.7 (GA maintenance), but the problem has not yet been resolved! Is the solution available, and, if so, how do I access the solution?

    ............Phil

    Hi Philip,

We have not added this functionality in version 4.4.7 but it is prototyped in our EA Early Access version lined up for next year. You can download the current EA version from https://myaccount.worldprogramming.com now:

    Hi Nico,

Thanks. I can now see the WPSKEY files for versions 5.0 and 5.24, but the Downloads area is unchanged. I think this may be because the version filter is fixed on 4.4.

Looks like you succeeded in download version 2024 (Early Access) eventually.

The butterfly plot now works as expected in Altair SLC 2024.
