Evolve, Sluggish Performance Since 3966 Update

I updated to build 3966 this weekend, and since then the responsiveness and screen draw are really slow. Any other reports of this? I'm running the 64 bit Windows version on Windows 8.1. I've tried the previous version that is still installed (that worked great, before), and that seems to be running slow now, as well.

    Hi,

We have heard no reports of sluggishness with 8.1 using 3966 but would like to investigate further.

Can you please share your graphics card info? Did you check if there was an update for the graphics driver?

    Thanks,

    Arjun

    Hello,

Please try the following things if you are using Nvidia graphics card on your Win 8.1 machine.

    1. Right Click on Desktop

    2. Click on Nvidia Control Panel

    3. Click on Manage 3D settings

    4. In Global settings tab>Preferred Graphics processor

[Can also try : Global settings tab>Global presets > Dassault Systemes CATIA-compatible]

    5. Select > High-performance Nvidia processor

    6. Click Apply

    7. Start Evolve

    Or

Reset the default user settings on Evolve 2014 (3966)

Please keep a copy of Evolve.ini file before reset. There are two ways to restore the default user interface:

1.The first method is to open the Preferences panel by selecting Help > Preferences from the  pull-down menus. Select the User Interface tab and click the Restore Defaults button. Then re-launch the program.

2.The second method is to re-launch the program after deleting the Evolve.ini file located at C:\Users\(Username)\AppData\Local\solidThinking\2014\Evolve\Config\64\Evolve.ini

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks,

I switched the 3D settings on the nvidia card to 'Workstation - Dynamic Streaming' and the Power management mode to 'Prefer maximum performance' which is what Rhino and a few other CAD software suppliers recommend and that seems to have helped things. I'm not seeing the lag anymore, but I'll keep an eye on it.
