MotionView Model Creation

Hello everyone,

Is there any way I can import an already meshed model (Abaqus/Optistruct) in MotionView?

  • I have tried creating a flex body (using it as rigidified), but the there is an issue with some joint locations where the interface nodes are getting referred in place of the joints location which was specified using specific points. The joint location aren't the part of the FE model, but would be referred when creating joints.(Consider two guide rails and a slider, I would be creating a cylindrical joint between those two guide rails, which aren't part of the FE model.
  •  If I am going through the other option of selecting *.h3d files from graphic for the body, the inertial properties are shown as blank when selecting  'get properties from associated graphics.'

    Hi @vanguard478

Please use Tools menu>>Import FE or CAD option to import meshed model  (HyperMesh file or OptiStruct file) in MotionView.

This will import the model as rigid bodies.

@Prakash I can't go with the geometry import because there are many components in the model. I was thinking of making systems for each of the assembly which have relative motions between them.

Also if I import the geometry, the CG coordinates would be hard-coded wrt to the global coordinates, same for the graphics files for each of the geometry, so if i have to position a system to another location on the model or if i have to use it multiple times with different orientation it would be really difficult.
