Simple topology optimization problem fails to run on my machine, no error message
I have the following optimization case below, with four fixed supports at one end of the structure and a hole with a downwards force on the other end and design space in red, and as far as I can tell I've followed all the steps in the basic Altair tutorials correctly, but this case does not run on the default optimization settings, and I'm not sure what I'm missing. I've attached the model in question, and was wondering if this could run on anyone else's machine?

As an addendum, it seems that the tutorial does not run properly on my machine either (I see a red 'x' accompanied by the message that it is 100% done), attached is the file I am using for that
your stmod you shared is just a block, with no materials, loads, etc
the tutorial model runs for me ok
Do you have write permissions in the directory you are trying to use?

Ah my mistake, I've attached the correct file this time. I should have the appropriate write permissions, but the tutorial file is now giving me Optimization Error8106
Ooh thanks, I'll keep that in mind for the other load cases as well. The error message I get is Optistruct run failed with Error No - 8106 (log file attached).
Hmm, that is odd, your progress file is pretty much identical to mine right to the end, except mine runs and yours has the error, the only other reference to that error I can find is another post on here from someone who reported the same error here a couple of weeks ago. I'll let you know if I find anything else.

I see, that certainly is odd. As an aside, thanks for all the help thusfar!

As an update, for anyone looking up this question in the future, I seem to have found a bandaid solution. I managed to find an out file stating that Inspire wasn't able to write a scratch file, and upon disabling my antivirus, I was able to get a result.
Yes, I have had confirmation that the error is related to inability to write scratch files. Not sure if you can whitelist or something to prevent the AV from blocking it?As an update, for anyone looking up this question in the future, I seem to have found a bandaid solution.
