Zero Plastic strain & Vonmises stress in EPS material

Hi, I'm performing drop simulation on air conditioner with complete packaging. I modelled EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) material with crushable foam model. The run is being killed and showing error message ("Energy error limit reached"). When I checked the results of EPS material, it is undergoing very high deformation which is creating very high energy.

I have two questions.

1) How to avoid energy error ?

2) In EPS material, I'm observing zero plastic strain, VonMises stress even though it is undergoing high amount of deformation. What is the reason for this ?

    Hi

Which material law are you using?

Looking at the output file image, it seems you are adding a lot of mass .

Are you using any time step control?

Please check the young modulus of the material.

And also the element formulation used. For foam, please try Isolid=11 .
