How can I join 2 nodes with an 1D element making both nodes dependient?

I need to simulate the join of two parts that in the manufacturing process are joined by a "weld". Both parts are plastic and the join is done by melting one part on the other. I did the join with RBE2 elements but the problem is that the nodes don't move together. I want to use an element with a constant length, to prevent this, but I don't know which connector suits better. I add an image of the mesh that I want to join.

The red one is the part to be melted and then pressed to the green one to make the join.

RBE2 should couple these nodes, with zero relative motion.

You should review what DOFs are enabled into your RBE2, to ensure a proper connection.
