Using .step file for hex mesh in Hypermesh. Is there a tutorial explaining from import to export.

Description: I am trying to do hex meshing for CFD in Hypermesh. I want to import a .step or .igs file and create hex mesh and then export it to a .msh or other mesh formats. I could import the .step file but I am unable to do the named selection or name of the boundaries (inlet, outlet etc). Will just hypermesh work in this case or should I use hypermesh CFD ? I want to create good quality hex mesh to use it for my OpenFoam case.

I do find some tutorials in youtube but they are mostly related to the old GUI. The new Altair seems to have completely different workflow. Could somebody help please.

You should us HMCFD for setting up a fluids problem

Thanks Jason. Is there a tutorial video that explains this neatly from importing a geometry file- meshing and then exporting a mesh file for the new Altair Hypermesh CFD. I am going round and round in circles without much output.

Hi Jason. I tried the training material today and it was really helpful. I was able to create tetrahedral mesh for a simple geometry and export it as a mesh file. But still, the tutorial does not cover creating Hex. mesh, which is really important for my research. I found the Hypermesh CFD platform really powerful. I will be using this platform for my research but for publication works, Hexahedral meshing is considered to be more reliable, and they are preferred over tetrahedral mesh. Could you please help me further on how to generate Hex mesh with Altair Hypermesh CFD.
