Modelling Adhesives on RADIOSS
Hi everyone,
I'm currently working on modeling adhesive contacts in RADIOSS and I'm trying to implement a Cohesive Zone Model (CZM) to simulate the adhesive behavior between surfaces.
Has anyone here worked on a similar problem or could point me to some useful examples or best practices? Any guidance or shared experience would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Hi Marina,
Thank you so much for your response. I still have one question though — I'm trying to define a cohesive law for my adhesive layer (triangular, exponential, trapezoidal, etc.), but I can’t find where to set the shape of the law in RADIOSS. Is it something that can be selected or configured explicitly in /MAT/LAW59, or is the shape fixed?
Thanks again for your support!
Dear Marina,
Thank you very much for your reply — I really appreciate your time and insight.
I’m currently working on implementing Cohesive Zone Modeling (CZM) to simulate adhesive joints, but I’m still quite new to this topic and finding it quite challenging. I’ve been looking for a step-by-step guide online, but unfortunately I haven’t been able to find anything comprehensive so far.
If you happen to have any resources, tutorials, or could offer some guidance — even briefly — it would be incredibly helpful and greatly appreciated.
Thanks again for your support!
Hi,
For solid cohesive elements on Radioss, we usually use /PROP/TYPE43:
And material law, I recommend you to take a look at:
Also in the Radioss documentation, you can find an example demonstrating the application of TYPE43elements with material LAW59
