What does it mean by checking arguments?

Trying to simulate flow through an accumulator, I'm not sure if this means my set up is wrong, but any help would be appreciated.

Under your Solution - right-click 'Settings' and select 'Format and Execute Options'. Is there something there that looks incorrect? Feel free to add the snapshot showing that pop-up.

Here it is, I never touched these so not sure what could be wrong with them. Thank you !

If your case has inlet and outlet - you should un-check the option for 'Pressure Reference Node' - does that change anything?

I'll try that and run it later tonight and get back to you

Have you been able to run any of the tutorial models - or is this your first attempt to run a CFD/AcuSolve model from SimLab?

    https://web.altair.com/hubfs/SimLab/SimLab_Learning_Center/SLC_Jan14_Frame/tutorials_contents_v126.html

Look in the 'Fluids and Particle Dynamics' section.

Which SimLab version are you using?

This is my first attempt at running Cfd with acusolve. I can try the tutorials to trouble shoot. I am on the student license for SimLab 2024.

For the standard/commercial installation, along with the SimLab installer itself, the SimLab Additionals zip file needs to be in the same directory as the SimLab installer, when that installer is run. I'm assuming it's the same for the student version - but not positive on that. If you did not have the SimLab Additionals zip file when you installed SimLab, you'll need to uninstall SimLab, download the zip file into the same directory as the installer - then install SimLab agina.

What about if I installed Simlab first, then the additionals? Would that mean I have to reinstall both, but in the order of additionals and then simlab?

  • Tom_b29

I had put the additionals into the same folder where I reinstalled simlab and ended up getting the same error message.

Just to make sure you did the reinstall correctly:

    Uninstall SimLab completely.

Place your previously downloaded SimLab installer ( AltairSimLab2024.1_win64.exe ) into a directory. Also place your previously downloaded Additionals zip file ( SimLab2024.1_Additionals_Windows.zip ) into that same directory with the .exe file. *** NOTE - your filenames/versions will likely be different - but similar.

Double-click the SimLab installer ( AltairSimLab2024.1_win64.exe ) to install SimLab. The installer will make use of the zip file during the installation.

Is that the process you already followed? If you're still not running, does it help to decrease the Number of Processors from 8 to 2 or 1 in the 'Format and Execute Options' pop-up?

I'll give those both a try and let you know how it goes. Thanks so much for your help by the way

Do I need to extract the files from SimLab2024.1_Additionals_Windows.zip when I put it in the same directory, or can I put the zip file in there and it will be fine?

Don't do anything with the zip file - just put it in the same directory as the main SimLab installer .exe file. The installation process will make proper use of the .zip file when it finds it there.

Ok, I did what you said and now my SimLab will not open. Should the directory only include the .exe and .zip file? I have them in the same folder as the other altair programs i have installed.

It could be a licensing issue - I think you mentioned student licensing. Did you do the reinstall with the same SimLab version you had working before? You can have multiple versions installed - so maybe try the same installation process (.exe and .zip in same directory) with the same release version you had earlier (provided you first uninstall that particular version)

Or you may need to go through the Activation process as described on this page.

    https://web.altair.com/altair-student-edition

I'm not very familiar with processes on the student edition.

I am currently attempting what you said to do, was I supposed to uninstall the exe file as well?

The .exe file can stay there. Uninstall - meaning go through the Windows Control Panel - Uninstall a Program process.

The license is intact, simlab still doesn’t open. Not sure where to go from here. I can try reinstalling again.

At this point, it might be a good idea to request your instructor/professor to submit a support ticket via AltairOne. Then the support team can perhaps set up a web meeting where you can share your screen, etc.

Yea I think its too far gone to stay on the message board. Thanks for all of your help though!

Could you please set the "Number of processors" from 8 to 4 or less than 4 in the "Format and execute options"?

For student license, up to 4 core is supported.

It is better to run through single core for a simple model and check.

Could you please check and let me know?

When my program still worked, I had tried lowering the number of processors and it did not change anything.
