2-d meshing

Hey all,

So I created a simple 2-d model on inventor, patched the surfaces and imported the geometry into Hyperworks. I wanted to then create an inlet and outlet component for the model before meshing it.

For a 3-d model we,

-Assign components to the surfaces
-2-d mesh the different surfaces
-3-d mesh the entire solid

So analogously, I thought that for a 2-d model I would need to:

-Assign components to the lines
-1-d mesh the different lines
-Surface mesh the entire 2-d object

Unfortunately, when I created a component titled say 'inlet' and assign it to a line by going to Geometry>Organize>Lines and then selecting the line, my line is not getting highlighted. Thus I am unable to proceed any further. Is my general idea wrong or just the way I am executing it?

Thanks,
Appy
