Radioss Solid Prop 6

Hello,

I am doing a flatwise compression simulation for a honeycomb core with solid modeling(LAW 28/Honeycomb). The solid property 6 says, it has fully compressible elements. Unfortunately in my simulation the elements do not compress fully and show unwanted stiffness at unexpected time/ displacement. Could you please help me out in this regard?

I am sharing the model file, output file and the curve plot. It is modelled with 7mm element size.

I think this is because of the E33 curve. Is it possible to refine them a little bit and check if that helps?

Hi Prakash,

The E33 curve is from experimental testing. I can put more points in between the curve but the curve shape would not change. If that is what you mean with refining.

Hi,

Could you pelase check with the units that are used in the model? I may assume that these are g, mm, ms. Please confirm.

Also please check the stress-strain curves: the curve 8 used for direction 33 is 1000 times higher than the curves 12, 13 used for direction 1 and 2

In model definition: what are the direction of orthotropy, it is not specified in the property. I assume that this direction is aligned with global z-direction? Please confirm

the units are g, mm, s.

the values of stress strain curves were derived through simulation of the model in these two directions (11 & 22). I am attaching the file alongwith.

how do you define the direction of orthotropy in property? i have defined through skew in new model. But it doesn't bring any changes.

But about 33 (Z direction) directions?

Is it from experimental results?

yes, 33 is from lab experiment testing.

SInce we dont have all the testing machines the E11 & E22, G12 had to be done through simulations.
