Dear Prakash Pagadala,
i have the same problem such as Steffen. Although, i dont want to export the Elements with new coordinate systems to a Solver. I would like to export the flat drape surface, so i can cut my preform with this geometry.
Is it possible to export the contour to an .dxf or similar format?
Best regards,
Nik
Hi Prakash Pagadala,
thank you for the fast reply! I am asking myself now: Why can you plot the surface, when you cant export it at the moment? Is it because this feature is implemented before the export feature was finished, or is there a different use that I am not taking into account?
Best regards,
Nik
thank you for the answer. I go to the Drape Estimator, choose my ply, choose 'Flat Shape' as Review Option and Click Apply. Then the flat Shape shows up. How to proceed with export?
Second question: Is it possible to export the drape angles from hypermesh to LSDyna? We want to use hypermesh for the drape simulation and use LSDyna for structural analysis.
Thank you,
Nikolas
Dear @Prakash Pagadala, i hope you can find some time to reply to my question. Maybe you havent seen the previous reply.
Thank you very much and kind regards,

Hi Prakash,
no problem! Thank you for responding to my problem.
I am using Hyperworks 14.0.
I'm not sure if this is a 2017+ Version. I'm going to try your suggestion. Thanks a lot!
Edit: I asked our IT and figured that we have an 2017 update available. I will update and report if it solved my problem. Thank you.
Hi Nikolas,
Sorry for missing this out.
Which version of HM are you using?
Please create an Environment variable AERO_TOOLS= 1, (if you using 2017+) and try again.
Hello Prakash,
i updated Hyperworks to the 2017 Version. Also i created an environment variable, set its name to 'AERO_TOOLS' and set the Value to '1'.
Afterwards i started Hyperworks 2017.2. I rightclicked the Ply, selected 'Drape' and then 'Laminate Tools'. When i try to calculate something, it says that 'Laminate Tools is not installed on this Machine'. Is this a Problem with our license, or do you have to buy this module seperately?
When i use the 'Drape Estimator' instead, im able to calculate some Properties for each ply. After reviewing the 'Flat Shape' of a ply, i hit Export. Hyperworks sadly won't export anything to my set workdirectory.
So i seem to have some new functions in this update, but im not able to use them properly. What could be the reason?

Hi Nik,
Can you please replace the attached script in hm\scripts\br\views\composite\operations\drapeestimator_perform.tcl location and if that helps?
Hi Prakash,
i replaced the attached script. Now i get a .stp file after i export, but it seems to be the original ply-geometry and not the flat shape geometry.
Here are the steps that im doing:
1)Calculate ply
2)Review Ply, Review Option: Flat shape
3) I see a blue line, which should indicate the flat shape
4) I go to Export, Set Working directory, select Ply 1 that i have calculated and click apply.
Where is my mistake?
Edit: Maybe i have explained it wrong: I would like to export the flat shape geometry, so that i can create a Drape-Ply-Book.

Hi,
could somebody found a solution on this Topic?
Thank you for your answer.

Hi @Steffen_M
You can export the drape data to solver deck. Click export>> Solver deck. Drape data will of elements will be written in the solver file.
