Coupling thermal and CFD results

Hi,

I have solved a steady state CFD case of exhaust manifold  in ANSYS Fluent. I have obtained the temperature distribution over  the wall of the manifold and now would like to use the same for assessing the thermal stress in the manifold in optistruct

For the same, I wanted to know how can we get the temperature load applied in optistruct from fluent

Thank you

You can try this setup within Altair Simlab with Acusolve and OptiStruct solver. Please refer below video and webinar

    Hi,

Currently the model has been solved in fluent and I have got the nodal temperatures from there

Can we use those in optistruct directly

Working on comparison with Acusolve also

    Hi,

It is solved by exporting temperature into ASCII file and then loading the file in the temperature load case as .txt file

    With foll. order of information

    x-coordinate  y -croodinate   z-coordinate temperature

Simlab also offers load mapping feature for different solver. Please explore same.I still suggest Simlab TFSI (Acusolve +OptiStruct) would be more suitable.

    Hi Rahul,

I have completed solving a CFD analysis for slug flow development in pipeline and obtained the output results in .h3d format (via AcuOut --> export .h3d).

I would like to utilize those results (pressure, wall shear stress, moment, velocity) and perform linear structural analysis via SimLab.

    1) I have imported directly the .h3d format into SimLab (Model Result + Model Data : without creating the solution). then I have proceed to create a solution via chosing AcuSolve Solver. but then I have encountered an error stating : AcuSolve Failed to Run.

    2) then I have tried to import .h3d format into SimLab again (Model Result + Model Data : with the creating solution). I have found that solution is imported but the solver have been chosen by default to be Optistruct. but then I have created another solution by chosing AcuSolve Solver. then I can see the results. but when I have tried to create another solution for Linear Static, I have encountered another error : Check Optistruct Input File.

I have tried to go through all the tutorials and training materials , but I could not manage to import .h3d format results and use it for my structural analysis.

could you please assist to check how would i need to move forward ?

Do i follow steps in bullet item (1) or follow the one in bullet item (2) as per above ?
